For weeks it was a topic of anxious speculation, nervousness, indeed, geopolitical suspense. Would Chinese president Xi Jinping meet Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo in Jakarta?
Publicly unconfirmed until hours before it occurred on the sidelines of the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, the Xi-Abe meeting, lasting some 30 minutes, did take place on April 22, staged before dozens of journalists’ cameras.
