US President Donald Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, with the two reiterating commitment to existing sanctions on North Korea even as a trade war brews between the two countries.
The two leaders “agreed on the importance of continued implementation of sanctions on North Korea until it permanently dismantles its nuclear and missile programs”, according to a readout of the call provided by the White House.
Mr Trump was also said to have “affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the trade and investment relationship between the United States and China is balanced and benefits American businesses and workers.”
