Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent the U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump a telegram to congratulate him on the latest win, pledging to personally work with Trump to expand the ties between the two nations.
China's state news agency Xinhua quoted Xi as saying that China-U.S. relationship is a high priority for him and that he expects to work together with the newly-elected U.S. president to grow the bilateral ties. Xi said both countries need to manage their differences and disagreements in a constructive manner.
On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minsitry spokesperson Lu Kang at a routine press briefing commented on the U.S. presidential elections, stating that China expects to make joint efforts with the new U.S. government to maintain sustained, healthy and stable growth of China-U.S. relations, and benefit people of the two countries and the world, Xinhua has reported.
